Sophie Wessex, the wife of Prince Edward and a daughter-in-law of the late Queen, could soon play a more significant role in the Royal Family after it was claimed the Countess has forged a close relationship with the Princess of Wales.
The Countess of Wessex made a tearful appearance alongside other members of the Royal Family as they inspected floral tributes to the late Queen at Balmoral. Sophie, who tied the knot with Prince Edward in 1999, also kept a close relationship with the 96-year-old monarch as she lives just 10miles away from Windsor Castle at Bagshot Park.
