Donald Trump's legal team - acting more like a public relations team - files an embarrassingly incompetent legal brief, captioned "Motion for Judicial Oversight and Additional Relief." Trump's motion reads more like a fundraising email than a legal filing. In it, Trump repeatedly asserts that he is the clear front-runner in the 2024 presidential election, he brags that his "Mar-a-Lago mansion" has 33 bathrooms" and he has an entire section of the brief under the heading, "The Government Has Long Treated Donald J. Trump Unfairly." No, you can't make this up.
The judge who has been assigned this matter - Judge Aileen Cannon - is a Trump appointee who was confirmed by Mitch McConnell's Senate AFTER Trump lost the 2020 election. Still, even Judge Cannon makes clear her view of Trump's motion by demanding he "file a supplement to the Motion further elaborating on" several aspects of the legal filing. In substance, Judge Cannon signals to Trump that his defense team should withdraw the legal trash they filed, and file a competent legal pleading.
