It was the slap heard round the world! A lot of people think Chris Rock should sue Will Smith after an altercation at the Academy Awards. Rock made fun of Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, for shaving her head by comparing her to G.I. Jane, a character who also sports a shaved head portrayed by Demi Moore in the film of the same name. That's when Will Smith walked up on stage and appeared to strike Chris Rock before yelling at him to "Keep [his] wife's name out [Rock's] f*****g mouth!" The joke apparently did not sit well with the Smiths after Jada revealed in 2018 that she suffers from alopecia, a condition which causes hair loss. Incredibly, Will Smith went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor that night. Whether you are Team Will, Team Chris, Team Neither, or Team Both, the fact remains that Chris Rock could very well sue Will Smith for the physical attack. However, it seems that the two individuals would prefer to not muddy the waters further by embroiling themselves in a legal battle with one another. Although, Rock may still want to get litigious yet because Smith may not be the only party he could sue. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that presents the Oscars, could be held liable for failing to adequately protect the talent in the room. Will Chris Rock sue them? Should he? Does it even matter? Is this just the latest gossip between two strangers that we are all becoming way too invested in but probably shouldn't because it has little effect on our non-Hollywood elite lives?
