Criminal Defense Attorney Reacts to Judge Granting Young Thug's Motion to Suppress.
Attorney Jamahl C. Kersey comes with yet another YSL RICO case breakdown.
Jeffery Williams, better known as rapper Young Thug is scheduled to start trial on January 9, 2023. A couple of weeks ago, Young Thug and his legal team scored a victory in the YSL case. Young Thug filed a motion to suppress evidence, arguing that the police conducted an illegal search of his home back in 2015. The police seized at least a cell phone, a computer, and some marijuana.
Young Thug's defense attorneys argued that the police either did not have a warrant at all, or it was an invalid warrant. The judge ultimately agreed and granted the motion. Therefore, the cell phone, computer, and marijuana were thrown out, and the DA cannot use them as evidence in the trial against Young Thug.
Anytime a motion to suppress is granted, that's a solid victory. But in the end, the DA may nonetheless have sufficient evidence to convict Young Thug, especially with all the YSL members who have agreed to cooperate and testify at trial.
