When America Tricked Vietnam's Mig-21s In a Brilliant Way #shorts

During Operation Rolling Thunder, America lost many bomber aircraft to North Vietnam's fast and agile Mig-21s, and thus planned Operation Bolo, an interesting and brilliant trap that United Statea Air Force set to hunt Vietnamese Mig-21s. In 1968, Robin Olds,a world war two fighter ace, made a plan to trick the North Vietnam's Mig-21s into an ambush, and this plan became known as Operation Bolo. Began on January 2nd 1967, the mission was flown by Colonel Olds himself, in which 28 F-4 Phantom IIs, took from Ubon air base in Thailand. To North Vietnam's radars, these Phantoms look like a slow moving, and easy to target U.S. bombers, and that's because the F-4 Phantoms camouflaged themselves with the same radio frequencies, call signs and jamming signal equipment as the American bombers. The Mig-21 interceptors flew directly into this trap as expected, and Phantoms with their Aim-9s and Aim-7 Sparrows, shot down 7 Mig-21s, with ZERO losses on the American side! These 7 aircraft were 50 percent of Vietnam's total mig-21 fleet.
