Rick and Morty’s 8th episode of the season, Analyze Piss, just aired so I guess it’s time to uhhh… analyze analyze piss! I can’t believe there have been so many pee related plots in cartoons this year. This one didn’t have QUITE as much as either of South Park’s streaming wars, which I’m grateful for, though it still had a lot. BUT when ya wade through all the piss, this thing actually has some of Rick’s best character exploration in a long while! Plus the continued character growth of Jerry, there’s a lot to dig in to here so let’s get to it.
Rick and Morty is back after a 6 week hiatus and their first point of order? Absolutely demolish the 4th wall. Like, completely obliterate it. Even more than the episode’s predecessor, Never Ricking Mort, aka The Story Train episode from season 4.
Full Meta Jackrick definitely lives up to its name with almost nauseating amounts of meta commentary, but the episode is also doing meta commentary ON meta commentary. Meta meta commentary. It was a lot. Let’s break it down and talk about if it actually means anything in the scheme of the show!
