The Morbi Cable bridge that collapsed yesterday was inaugurated just
6 days ago. The bridge was renovated at a cost of Rs 2 crore before
being opened to the public. It was opened with much fanfare. The CMD of
the Oreva group which was contracted for renovation during a press
conference at the inauguration said the bridge would last for 10 years.
Sadly, it didn't even last 10 days. The incident brought out the corruption
by Oreva in the renovation of the bridge.
