What is HAPPENING in Pakistan?

You might have heard about the US killing a key member of the Al-Qaeda with a drone strike under the direct orders of President Joe Biden. Now when I tell you that seemingly unrelated incident was actually meant to boost Pakistan’s economy, will you be surprised? But that’s exactly what some experts reckon. Pakistan is going through one of the worst economic crises in their history, with the Pakistani rupee currently the worst-performing currency in Asia. And it needs another IMF financial bailout if it has to survive and not follow in Sri Lanka’s footsteps into economic disaster. How have our neighbours reached this position? We examine if Pakistan’s current situation is a result of recent global developments like the Ukraine-Russia war, or if has been a long time in the making.
