Ven. Dhammagavesi Thero began his spiritual journey in 2013 at Wat Pah Nana Chat in Thailand where he stayed for 1.5 years. He learnt a lot about Buddhist teachings but found something lacking in the meditation which didn’t allow further progress. His initial training in meditation was through 10 Vipassana courses in Mumbai, India. In 2016 he discovered Bhante Vimalaramsi and recovered an approach to the Buddha Dhamma and meditation which is easy to understand and immediately effective. He left Thailand to join a Dhammasukha retreat in Bali, Indonesia with Bhante Vimalaramsi the same year. After his ordination, as a novice monk, he continued developing his practice under Ven. Khanti Khema in Sri Lanka. In 2017, he received a higher ordination in Penang while on a Malaysian tour with Bhante Vimalaramsi. Currently stationed in Sri Lanka, he serves as a Co-Director for the Dhamma Sukha Asia Region and has been instrumental in forming the Samatha-Vipassana Trust in Mumbai, India. Venerable has been coaching students on TWIM practice online and has begun his in-person retreats in 2022. He also organizes retreats and tours for Bhante Vimalaramsi and Ven. Khanti Khema throughout the Asia region. His intention is to encourage and train future monastics, students and teachers in the TWIM practice throughout the Asia region, specifically India.
