Do You Need Head Armor?

VALORANT and CSGO are economy shooters, which means that, in some respects, they are quite literally mathematical. As such, there are certain decisions one makes purely out of common sense.

For example, you can’t only use certain lesser weapons even if they fit your playstyle. If you have the money you should always be upgrading to the premium rifles due to the obvious positional advantages they offer.

But there is one mandate that players across both games don’t always agree on since, admittedly, there isn’t always a clear answer. Namely, when should you buy head armor?

Although the benefits of buying additional armor might seem rather obvious, the question of when you should capitalize on them has actually been a mildly contentious topic in CSGO for quite some time.

Due to the stats of certain weapons, and the stress head armor inflicts on the already-fragile CT economy, there is an argument that paying extra to protect your noggin might not always be the right call.

Now things have come full circle because that same conversation is happening around heavy armor in VALORANT. And we are even seeing teams opt out of the added protection at the pro level.

But is it the right call? Can not buying upgraded armor in these games be a big brain strat or does it end up causing more harm than good?
