어떤 연구에 대한 기사를 하나 본 적이 있는데요, 사람이 어떤 환경에서 성장하는지가 나중에 그 사람이 성인이 됐을 때 스트레스에 대처하는 능력에 주는 영향에 관한 것이었어요.
I remember reading an article about a research that showed the connection between the type of environment that a person is brought up in and how well they deal with stress later on in life as an adult.

흥미롭게도, 연구 결과가 보여 준 것은 많은 자연으로 둘러 쌓인 시골 지역에서 자라는 사람들이 스트레스에 더 잘 대처하는 경향이 있고 우울증 같은 것에 더 강한 (반면)...
Interestingly, the research showed that people who grow up in rural areas surrounded by a lot of nature tend to be better at dealing with stress and are (just) less prone to things like depression (whereas) ....

...(그런 반면) 도시에서 자라는 사람들은 일반적으로 그런 것에 더 크게 영향을 받는데, 그것이 그들을 신체 그리고 정신 질환에 더 잘 걸리게 한다는 것이다.
.. whereas people who grow up in urban areas are generally more susceptible to things like that, which makes them more vulnerable to both physical and mental illness.

환경이 유일하거나 가장 큰 결정 요소도 아니겠지만 환경 보호라든가 성공적인 인생이 돈과 지위만이 아니라는 사실에 대해서 더 생각하게 했다.
I’m sure environment is not the only determing factor or even the biggest determining factor, but it certainly got me thinking more about environmental protection and the fact that a successful life isn’t all about money and status.
