Collaboration among New York stakeholders is key to providing job pathways for people, according to Karrin Wilks, chief learning strategist, New York Jobs CEO Council.

WorkingNation sat down with Wilks at Presented by JFF Horizons – See Beyond 2022 in New Orleans.

“We're thinking about both the supply side, which is education and training and the demand side, which is the companies,” she explains. “A big project for us is to work with CUNY (City University of New York) and work with partner companies to redesign associative applied science degrees.”

Wilks explains that A.A.S degrees are supposed to be terminal degrees and lead directly into employment. “Very often do not, unless you're talking about nursing in a couple clinical fields.
Redesigning those degrees to embed a paid credit-bearing apprenticeship into it leads directly to hiring.”

Through new programs like these, New York Jobs CEO Council is on a mission of getting 100,000 New Yorkers hired by 2030.
