The Kremlin has called for talks with the United States on a nuclear treaty extension. The START nuclear arms treaty is an agreement between the two sides to reduce and limit strategic offensive arms. The treaty is slated to end in February 2026. Moscow says the agreement is pivotal for global security and that Russia's military operation in Ukraine is no reason to avoid its discussion.
