Former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister M Sivasankar's statement to Customs on baggage issue is out. According to the statement, the luggage was later delivered during the Chief Minister's visit to the UAE. The bag containing the gifts for the guests was later delivered. It is said that this was done with the help of the Consulate General. Sivsankar's statement contradicts what Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on the luggage issue during a press meet held on Monday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had denied the allegation made by Swapna Suresh, accused in a gold smuggling case, that he forgot to take luggage on his way to Dubai. The Chief Minister also wrote in the Assembly that he had not forgotten his luggage during his trip to Dubai. The CM also said that there was no question of currency smuggling as the baggage was not missing. Swapna alleged that Sivsankar had intervened and reached the UAE with the help of a UAE consulate official, which contained currency. Swapna’s allegation was revealed to the media after the news of her giving a secret statement in a money laundering case related to gold smuggling came out. The Chief Minister's reply was to the question of the Opposition on this.
