This is another amazing live story of a baby Red-tailed hawklet that was brought into this bald eagle nest as prey only to survive against all odds and is thriving and growing! This Gabriola Island bald eagle couple have been nesting here and raising their offspring. One parent brought this live hawklet into the next on Saturday June 4th 2022 as prey but a miraculous thing happened and the little hawklet started to beg for food and the parents have been feeding the baby and it is thriving and growing.
Today, a parent came in with a fish and we see both the hawklet and the eaglet rush to claim it. The eaglet (Junior) claims the fish and starts to eat but lo and behold, the hawklet comes over and gets a few bites of food from the eaglet sibling! Amazing! When Junior is finished, the hawklet starts to self feed! What an amazing turn of events - of course, this is a live raptor nest and anything can happen but so far everything looks encouraging that this hawklet will continue to survive and fledge the nest! Thank you for watching!
