Freight Trains Running BACKWARDS? | Long hood forward Freight Trains

As crazy as it sounds trains running backwards can (sometimes) be a regular occurrence. Sometimes when trains are put together, though rare they will run backwards as they can do all things a train can do regularly forwards as well. It's called running "Long Hood Forward". Though for mainline trains it is very uncommon for them to run for long distances. 5:06 A crane loads ties into the train

5:15 The train shoves forward to load another gondola

6:29 With the train loaded up, the train shoves back into the siding to end off the day's work

7:29 UP 5685 passes by long hood forward with another DJJ Work Train

9:41 UP 4310 Makes it's way down the mainline light to collect it's train

10:14 UP 4310 later returns with it's train

10:48: Eventually 4310 makes it's way back to finish collecting ties

12:21 UP 4310 leaves to another destination to collect more ties

13:07 The sun begins to set as 4310 leaves it's train in the siding for the night.

13:50 The train gets tied down for the night
